The Master’s Degree Program in Transportation Engineering (Professional Degree) at Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) recruits students under the auspices of the counterpart program of the College of Applied Technology, Shenzhen University (SZU). Admitted postgraduates pursue their studies at SZTU and are conferred master’s degree certificates issued by Shenzhen University upon graduation.
The program boasts a faculty team consisting of 45 on-campus master’s supervisors, including 7 professors, 19 associate professors and 6 senior experimentalists, among whom 42 hold doctoral degrees. There are another 51 off-campus industrial supervisors from enterprises, covering 3 national-level talents, 5 professor-level senior engineers and 343 senior engineers. Centered on the practical demands for integrated comprehensive transportation driven by modern rail transit in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), the program serves the economic growth of urban agglomerations across the GBA. It is committed to cultivating high-end professionals equipped with solid theoretical foundations and systematic expertise in transportation engineering and its interdisciplinary branches. Graduates are capable of tackling practical engineering challenges and engaging in innovative research, qualifying for posts in planning, design, construction, administration and scientific research within integrated comprehensive transportation sectors. Two specialized research tracks are available: (1) Rail Transit Planning, Design, Operation and Management; (2) New Transportation Vehicles plus Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) & Road Cooperative Technology and Its Application.
Furthermore, the program has built an innovation platform for scientific research and practical training featuring industry-education integration and science-education integration. Led by the College of Applied Technology (SZTU), the platform joins hands with Shenzhen Metro Group and other entities to develop multiple key research institutions: the Guangdong Provincial University Engineering Technology R&D Center for Intelligent Operation & Maintenance of Rail Transit, the Guangdong Provincial University Engineering Technology Research Center for Precision Manufacturing of Intelligent Terminals for Transportation Equipment, and Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Urban Rail Transit. These facilities collectively form a collaborative innovation system for smart urban transportation. In partnership with over ten enterprises including Shenzhen Gaochuan, Shenzhen Future Perception, Shenzhen Institute of Metrology and Shenzhen Zhonghui Rail Intelligent Technology, the program has established three Guangdong Provincial Postgraduate Joint Training Demonstration Bases (co-built with Shenzhen Metro, Shenzhen Transport Research Center and Shenzhen Consper) and more than ten off-campus practical innovation bases for postgraduates.
